Some of you might laugh if you saw the amount of First Aid and health related items I’m packing for our trip, but I don’t care, I like to be prepared.

So here’s a fun list of items that can be found in our First Aid kit:

  • Plasters – various sizes incl blister
  • Sterile gauze dressings – various sizes
  • Light elastic bandage
  • Elastic bandage/bandage crepe – heavy duty
  • Two rolls of micropore
  • Triangular bandage
  • Sterile wet wipe pads
  • Scissors
  • Tweezers
  • Safety pins
  • Antiseptic cream
  • Burns cream
  • Antihistamine cream and pills
  • DEET insect repellent
  • Sun Cream F50 (Yes, I’m pale and interesting)
  • Pain killers
  • Antacid tablets
  • Swiss Army knife
  • Personal medication
  • A First Aid manual
  • Diarrhoea Kit
  • Mosquito net

Vaccines are incredibly expensive.

I’m in the camp of what’s a few hundred pound when we’re talking about your health. However, I think had I known just how expensive the vaccinations were going to be (for both of us) I would of tried to spread them out over a longer period of time.

But we don’t do anything by halves (bit of a motto) so we’re fully protected against:

  • Rabies
  • Japanese Encephalitis
  • Hepatitis A & B
  • Typhoid

Apparently where we’re going we won’t need malaria pills, but we’ve got DEET spray and a mosquito net so all should be fine. We can always pick up some in Thailand if we move somewhere else.
