School flag ceremony

Remember I mentioned that the school has a flag ceremony? It’s every Monday and Wednesday morning.

All of the students (2500) line up on the school field during assembly as the Teacher’s give announcements and they play the national anthem along with a few prayers afterwards.

Last Monday the three of us had to give a short speech to this crowd. We introduced ourselves and talked about how we were looking forward to working with them and how we had enjoyed our first two weeks. Annoyingly, Jack and I had practised saying this in Thai the night before and so when I took the mike I said, “Hello, my name is Sam and I’m from England” in Thai and then in English… afterwards, Jack just spoke in English! Hopefully it sounded alright, lol.

Here’s some photos of the Wednesday ceremony:

And here’s the best photo I could get of the Gecko lizards that invade our apartment at night (they eat mosquitoes so we like them.)
