Sports day at Muang Loei school was unlike any other sports day I’d been to. The emphasis was more on a party-like atmosphere where everyone was dressed up in very interesting costumes such as fairies, vampires and some girls in party dresses with lots of make-up. It was all very odd considering we’d only been told to expect sports.
Personally, I only saw a few sports take place and these were tug of war, running and relay races and one game of football. I’m not sure if in the previous month when the kids had been pulled out of class for what we were told was practice, was actually them contributing towards team points or not, as unless it all happened at lunch I just saw a lot of dancing and cheering. But here’s the photos, another memorable day in Loei.
Balloons were let off at the beginning of the day and an olympic torch was lit (and immediately extinguished so no photo)
Happy New Year! We went to Udon Thani again for a few days and had a really chilled out new year eating lots of Western food at the Irish Clock and shopping in the January sales. We picked up a few bargains including some new tops for me and some computer accessories and caught the 47 Ronin film (don’t bother going) so all in all a nice, peaceful new year.
